Welcome to the Civil Service Angling Society website. The Society, which was established in 1934 currently has approximately 750 members.
Our waters are located near Staines upon Thames, Shepperton & Windsor, and in Berkshire. We have 4 gravel pits, stretches on 4 different rivers, and 3 stretches on the Kennet & Avon canal.
Please browse our website to find information on the fishing we offer, membership information, as well as match reports, club updates & news.
The Civil Service Angling Society was founded in 1934. Its first President was Neville Chamberlain who was Prime Minister, 1937-1940. In the early days, the Society’s membership mainly was drawn from civil servants who worked in the Whitehall area.
One of its earliest fisheries, which can be dated to 1937, was on the Thames at Datchet. Sadly Datchet is no longer a CSAS water, Later, the Society acquired fishing rights on the River Kennet, the Thames at Windsor, the Kennet & Avon Canal and at Ellis Water, Shepperton; all of which, along with some others, remain on its portfolio of waters.
