Match No 12, K&A canal, Kintbury
It was a very cold morning, following a frost overnight. The Canal was running quite fast towards the church bridge, as they had opened a sluice gate on the Kennet to run off the flood water. Myself and Derek Bunce drew low numbers, so we fished up near the church bridge. Les Cole fished the dead water at the bottom end. Mark Davison started at the top end, but moved down to the dead water. It seems that Les Cole made the correct choice of swim. Derek Bunce, and myself were struggling in the faster section, we couldn’t get a bite. The only fish I caught was a trout, and they don’t count in matches.
1st Les Cole 9Ib 10oz, mixed bag mostly roach caught on bread punch.
2nd Mark Davison 2Ib 4z mixed bag, caught on pinkie.
