RFA R Rother winter pike matches

For the 3rd year running Tim, of the Newenden estate, is planning to run some pike matches on the estate’s waters (River Rother at Newenden, Hexden Channel, Estate Lake/s depending on conditions). At this stage all we need is a list of potential entrants. So if you are interested, please email Steve Crowley at rotherfisheryassociation1872@gmail.com telling him your name, you’re a CSAS member, and contact phone number and email address.

We will meet in Newenden, along Lossenham Lane. You’ll be given precise details later.

The draw will be 8am with fishing from 9am to 2pm. Matches may be pegged down, may be rover, it depends on circumstances on the day. River Rother or Hexden Channel are the chosen options but if the weather is bad / flooding we might look at the canal. Very friendly affairs, people often stand and chat while fishing, anyone can help anyone land / unhook fish. Fish get landed and then returned straight away, not retained. 2 rods allowed. No live baiting.

Entry fee will be £10 per match with 50% paid out and 50% to charity (Demelza Children’s Hospice, Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice, Deaf Children’s Society

The pay-out is on biggest total weight. 1st. 50%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 20% (roughly.)

The Estate may (as in the past) also offer cash prizes for the biggest fish. If there’s interest I might run a pool as well for the biggest fish. I’ll probably leave a bucket available to collect any cash donations on the day!
